CCNSH, ApprenticeshipNH and Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s Workforce Readiness Institute have collaborated to develop a pre-apprenticeship program that leads into one of three registered apprenticeship options in the Dartmouth-Hitchcock system (Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician and Surgical Technician). This program combines classroom learning and work-based learning opportunities.
DHMC has developed a new position in their system called a Health Operations Support Associate to accompany this and other training models. This is a paid position (there are currently 40 open positions) that does not require any experience OR a high school diploma. The program will work with students to complete a high school diploma or equivalency while they are working in a position that will provide on the job training in a number of different aspects of the medical field. Once the student has earned the secondary credential, they will be able to work their way through a number of good paying career pathways within the health care field.
